Hannah is a pianist and a singer/songwriter with eighteen plus years experience with her specialties in Intro/Modern/Classical Piano and Voice. Hannah holds a Level 8 Piano in the Royal Conservatory of Music as well as a BFA in Theatre (Performance Creation) from York University. Hannah’s musical roots are in Southern Gospel, Pop, Country and Musical Theatre. Hannah believes that music is storytelling. She uses multidisciplinary methods to teach students and prioritizes their voice/musical/creative ability in their musical journey.
Hannah uses imagery as visual techniques, character building through lyric analysis, and teaches beginner/intermediate music theory to better understand the structure, so students can create and learn within the bounds of music and unlock a new way to look at Voice and Piano lessons. Hannah teaches songwriting through character building, storyboarding creation, creative writing as well as lyric analysis, teaching students to build a character that their voice and/or piano skills and techniques will connect by music theory and vocal training.
Outside of teaching, Hannah is a deviser/performer/creator in the Toronto GTA area, creating space for artists to express their true voice in their creations. She shares a plethora of theatre making techniques in her teaching that she uses in her directing/creation style as well. She’s created various Sound Designs and Compositions for multiple productions in the Toronto Fringe Festival and York University productions. You can listen to Hannah's EP called That Old Tree on Spotify, Apple Music and wherever else you listen to your music!
Hannah’s teaching structure is catered to the student to find ways to help connect them with their instrument - whether that is Piano or Voice. Her goal is to help students connect to the healing power of music, and create a method of storytelling they can carry into any field in their careers and lives.
