Sarah Murley-Hauser, Director
Inspired by her first violin teacher, Heidi Behrenbruch, Sarah has been driven by a desire to deliver excellent music lessons to all her students. She completed her Bachelor of Music under the teachings of Katherine Rapoport and Annalee Patipatanikoon at the University of Toronto. Sarah's extensive teacher development continues to take her all over North America and inspires her to offer excellence and invite a love of music within her students.
Since 2012, Sarah's studio has grown into the Willowdale School of Music. She is looking forward to many years of growth and music-making fun in North York.
When she is not playing, Sarah enjoys walks with her husband and dog, reading, and baking bread.
Clara Tan, Piano
Clara's teaching experience ranges between private studios and volunteer organizations. She has taught at studios throughout Mississauga and Etobicoke, as well as with Musical Minds Community Outreach, a student-run volunteer group at the University of Toronto which provides free music lessons to children from low-income families in Toronto. She has an unshakeable lifelong love for music. Clara holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from the University of Toronto, majoring in Criminology with a double minor in Sociology and History.
A firm believer in positive reinforcement and individualized lesson plans, Clara's teaching method tailors to each and every child's unique personality, likes and dislikes, and learning style. Clara's lessons are full of fun, engaging activities as well as enthusiastic encouragement for students to pursue their personal musical interests.
Outside of the music studio, Clara enjoys photography, skating, baking, and spending time with her grumpy rescue cat Miss Honey.
Marie Anton, Violin
Marie Anton is violinist and music educator from Toronto. She recently graduated from York University with a BA in Music and Psychology. Born in Egypt and raised in Dubai, Marie came to Toronto to pursue her higher education, where she studied violin under the tutelage of the late Jacques Israelievitch, Mark Skazinetsky, Martin Bazarian, and Steve Koh. She has participated in the Tafelmusik Summer Baroque Institute as well as the Northwestern Summer Violin Institute in Chicago.
Marie is passionate chamber and orchestral musician, she served as concertmaster of the York University Symphony Orchestra from 2018-2019 and has been part of the Ontario pops and York chamber ensemble orchestras.
Marie has also been a music educator around the GTA for a number of years and is highly driven inspire and help students achieve their best.
Lori Mak, Piano & Voice
Lori Mak is a classically trained singer and has been teaching music for six years. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from York University where she studied Classical Voice Performance. She is also classical trained on the piano, as her music journey began when she started piano lessons at the young age of six. Lori has also been performing since young, and has performed for various community events, concerts and shows, all over the Greater Toronto Area.
